Why We Built Defensible

Companies don’t outgrow their MSP overnight.

They outgrow them when complexity, risk, and expectations change.

Through years of security advisory work, assessments, and incident response, we saw the same pattern repeat.

As organizations grew, their technology environments grew with them. Speed was the priority, especially early on, so tools and vendors were added rapidly and without clear ownership. Over time, it became harder to see how everything connected and who ultimately owned the risk.

The environment hadn’t matured at the same pace as the business.

Defensible was built to address that gap by bringing IT, cybersecurity, and response together so they move with the business as it grows.

Leadership

Steve Doty

Steve Doty is an information technology and information security expert and the CEO and founder of Defensible Technology. Most recently, Steve served as the CTO for The Juilliard School and led the university through a global IT transformation inclusive of technology modernization, organizational restructuring, and expansion into China.

As a Managing Director with a leading forensics and incident response firm, Stroz Friedberg, Steve has functioned as an outsourced CISO for numerous organizations across multiple industries. Earlier in his career, Steve was a senior network engineer and “Big 4” consulting firm manager.

Dmitriy Aminov

Dmitriy Aminov is an information technology and information security expert with a unique combination of strategic and tactical expertise. As CTO of Defensible, he brings more than 15+ years of experience designing and configuring network solutions, implementing state-of-the-art technologies, managing enterprise-level IT services, and developing IT and InfoSec programs.

Most recently, as Director of IT Engineering at The Juilliard School, Dmitriy led the modernization of its IT and security infrastructure, and played a pivotal role in the design, configuration and implementation of the new Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning/Student Information System (ERP/SIS).

Kelvin Baez

Kelvin Baez leads Cybersecurity and Managed Service Provider (MSP) Operations at Defensible Technology. Kelvin has an extensive history providing white-glove IT support to clients in demanding office environments. He maintains a strong working knowledge of industry best practices in cybersecurity, IT networking, and Windows/Mac OS environments, and is noted for his client-focused mindset and IT problem-solving capabilities.

Prior to working at Defensible Technology, Kelvin was an Information Systems Representative at Bloomberg LP for eight years, where he served as a trusted IT and security advisor to Michael R. Bloomberg and the Bloomberg senior executive team. He also supported IT field operations at Bloomberg for President during Mike Bloomberg’s campaign for U.S. president.

Before Bloomberg, Kelvin was Computer Operations Manager/Senior Technician for the New York City Mayor’s Office for eight years. There he provided IT and cybersecurity support to Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the Mayor’s executive staff.

Isaac Marks

Isaac Marks leads Defensible’s Human Resources, Staffing, and Talent Acquisition practice. With 20+ years in the technology and cybersecurity recruiting industry, Isaac is a seasoned veteran with a unique ability to source the right candidate, at the right time, for the right job. Isaac’s capabilities and energy enable both Defensible and clients to scale to meet the needs of the business in a cost-effective manner.

Isaac has vast experience in identifying and engaging top talent with various skill sets and levels, including but not limited to DevOps, cybersecurity, cloud migration, blockchain, and software engineering.

Carl Young

Carl S. Young is a physical and cybersecurity risk management expert and the author of five reference books and numerous papers on security risk management.

Carl previously served as a Senior Executive and Supervisory Special Agent with the FBI, where he led technology initiatives supporting counterintelligence, counterterrorism, and criminal investigations. He later held senior roles at Goldman Sachs, Stroz Friedberg, and The Juilliard School. He has been an adjunct professor at John Jay College, a consultant to the JASON Defense Advisory Group, and a member of a blue-ribbon panel convened by the Director of Central Intelligence.

He currently serves as Chief Operating Officer at Defensible Technology, Executive-in-Residence at Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business, and co-founder of Consilience 360.
